When the holidays are over, you may want to get the follow-up CD with new Broadway tunes. Since the music department has gone secular (you DID see the candlelight service, did you not?? — with Santa songs sung in the sanctuary (holy place)…), the new CD will feature songs from Fiddler on the Domes, The Tithing King, and of course, West Side Story.

This is brilliant.
And since when does telling the truth “tear down the body of Christ”? Jesus made a connection for his followers about truth and freedom.

Your site is funny, and yet it is sad. Sad, because it points to some truths that we don’t want to really deal with. Truth that asks us to dig deeper than we want to!
Surface level life is much easier to live, as well as the accompanying mentality of complacency, and apathy.
I started up a blog for Eastern Orthodox Christian Businessmen and women due in large part to America’s Christian view on wealth and materialism, and it’s infectious nature on America. I invite you to come view it, if you wish. I recently started it, so I encourage you to view all the posts and if you derive anything out of it - glory be to God. I am truly concerned for America, and the path that Christianity in it is taking. God help redirect it back to the ancient path.
With humble bow,
Rd. Chrysostomos

“Mostly, gripes focused on money–the bloggers claim City Bible overemphasizes tithing, fundraising and equipment purchases” WW
I would like to ask a question (or two) regarding this assertion.
Is this generally what the blog is about? For me this blog is about addressing a more rudimentary problem, which is the churches fascination with the “American dream”. Simply stated CBC, like many churches, have become drunk with the wine of the dominate culture of the USA. To me it seems that “Materialism” is just one expression of this more fundamental issue.
I would like to assert that Christians are citizens of another kingdom with other values (including simplicity) and that when the “kingdom of heaven” becomes the “American dream” we have lost connection with our primary narrative.
Is materialism the problem or forgetfulness?
