So we’re officially switched over to B.C.E. now? (Before Common Era, as opposed to B.C. => Before Christ)

I remember being in college and hearing the term BCE. I asked my professor what that meant, and he launched into a long drawn out explanation about how we don’t know the specific date Christ was born… blah, blah, blah,

Half way through his speech, I interrupted him and asked if this was going to be on the test, because if not, I really didn’t care.

Whatever happened to the humor??? This used to be a fun blog. Atleast that article had a bit of humor in it at the end. Has this blog been hijacked by some over zealous CBC operatives? Probably more like a willingness to give in to the pressures of the cult that is CBC. Does anyone that visits this site have a privately developed opinion of what is going on in the world today? Heres my opinion: All CBCers should save every single pamhlet and political leaflet handed out by CBC for a year, and at the end of said year, drop them off the side of the cliff of Rocky Butte in protest to CBC’s lack of consideration for the environment that God told us to manage.

    In response to cat’s professor,

While it is true that scholars are not absolutely certain when Jesus’s birth was, the predominant theory is that it was April 17, 6 B.C.E. (the wonders of the History channel.) The reason the 25th of December was chosen as the day to celebrate Christmas was because the Christians at that time wanted a holiday to compete with the week long pagan celebration of winter solstice, so they placed Christmas right in the middle of that week (winter solstice begins on the 21st for those who don’t know). I believe the same is true with Easter, but I am not entirely positive on that one.
