15 MINUTE PRAYER CARD
Posted on September 19th, 2005 by Reformed Pope into the Uncategorized categoryA lot of people seem to think that Catalyst and I have it out for PF and CBC. This simply is not the case. Recently, I came across a 15 minute prayer card for Pastor Frank & Sharon Damazio. I would like to share it with you incase any of you would like to add 15 more minutes to your daily walk with God.
For the record I have not changed or edited any of these requests; I am simply posting them as they were written.
- Pray for Pastor Frank and Sharon to have continued spiritual and physical strength.
- Pray for God’s favor to rest on the Damazio family:
- Pray for God’s wisdom to help us grow and manage our two campuses. Pray for the new simulcast model we are using as we continue to improve and enlarge.
- Pray for continued breakthrough in the area of miracles and healings.
- Pray for spiritual impartation in the areas of serving, evangelism, and worship.
- Pray for God’s wisdom as we take PBC to a new level with new strategies.
- Pray for a new level of release and recognition for women leaders within our church.
- Pray for the spirit of reformation to rest upon our church as we face culture wars.
- Pray for our church to enlarge our multi-ethnic and multi-cultural growth.
- Pray for a continual open heavens in our corporate church services.
- Pray for the tithe to increase 15 percent along with missions and Forward Together increases.

Did you make that last one up??

I’m surprised that they didn’t ask for a 50% increase in tithing…

“Pray for God’s wisdom as we take PBC to a new level with new strategies.”
Keep your eye on this one folks.
Somehow I’m pretty sure “new level” means “fewer teachers” and “new strategies” means “more tuition dollars”.

I told you, I didn’t make any of them up.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve still got 7.5 min left.

What the hell are “culture wars”? I’m guessing they mean that anyone whose culture does not reflect the values and opinions of CBC, then those people are the enemy in their culture war? It’s this kind of antagonistic terminology that offends people who are not in the church because the church treats outsiders like enemies.
How about treating everyone like children of God by showing them His love and grace, and thereby make a positive impact on the culture we live in? Instead of “we hate gays/gamblers/liberals/enemy-of-the-week”, why not “We love you the way Christ loved us. Come be like Him.”???

ditto. I thought the war was with principalities and power, not with flesh and blood. And maybe that’s what they’re referring to, but they really need to work on their verbage (is that the right word? maybe I should work on mine, too).

I wondered the same thing, what exactly are “Culture Wars”?
Furthermore what do they mean by a “Spirit of Reformation?”
September 20th, 2005 at 10:43 am
“Culture Wars” and “Spirit of Reformation” is corporate speak for “tithes and offerings”.

ah, yes…that clears things up. Seriously, my pastor spoke on tithing this last Sunday. Not only was it the first time I’ve ever heard him speak on tithing or money in the year and a half since we’ve been here, but it was insightful and guilt-free. Imagine!

FICM:

Pretty much. Catholics. Democrats. Lib-uh-rals. Non-evangelical Republicans (are there any left besides Sen Gordo?). Members of any green environmental group. Anyone who ever listented to Air America.
The list goes on. Another way to think about them is “first against the wall when we take over”. And it’s infinitely expandable if the group things they aren’t sufficiently oppressed.
It connects and binds the group to the leader whose revelation must not be questioned. And when you’re always under siege, everyone is your warrior comrade.

Ayup.

That’s so very charmingly behind the times of you. But it’ll happen once churches rediscover the actual Jesus and start following the poser I like to call Rambo Action Jesus!!!

Me:

I meant, of course stop following Rambo Action Jesus!!!.
Sorry about the error.

FICM and SJK,
You go, girl!
And, it would actually appear that CBC isn’t shopping for Rambo Action Jesus or even Buddy Christ. Instead, they’re looking for an incarnation of Santa Claus with CBC’s agenda at heart. The card reads extraordinarily like something straight out of an unusually buzzword-immersed, greedy 6-year old.
I sincerely hope the imaginary entity they are petitioning remains either imaginary or impotent. I shudder to think what would happen were they to get their wishes (”Ralphie, you’ll shoot your eye out!”).
