Happy Birthday to Us

Posted on December 1st, 2005 by catalyst into the Uncategorized category

Some of you may think of December 1 as the day Bette Middler entered the world and changed our lives forever through song and dance. Or you may remember to pin a pink flower to your lapel in Honor of AIDS, as today is World AIDS day.

However, here at City Business, today is the day we took every silly thought we had about that large breasted church on the hill, and laid them out for the world to see. And in honor of this momentous occasion we are going to try and quantify exactly what one year means to this blog:

Number of Entries: 137

Number of times we have cursed: 24

Number of entries featuring the Lasit Family: 14

Number of allusions to Seinfeld: 55

Number of anonymous comments that ridiculued us: 79

Number of times we have been called “bitter”: 1 bajillion

Number of people who did not get that we were trying to help Doug and Donna’s marriage: 2,934

Number of City Bible pastor’s who read this blog religiously: 24

Number of times we have used the word “tithe”: 610

Number of times we lied about pastor’s reading this blog: 1

Thanks to everyone who reads and comments on this blog. You make my life fun. Thank you.

In view of your anniversary, I thought you might take these sincere words to heart from Ephesians 4:29-31:

“Let NO corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And GRIEVE NOT the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let ALL BITTERNESS, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice.”

I pray that you will allow God’s love to transcend all the anger and resentment that you have towards a church that has done so much for people. I don’t where I’d be without CBC.
Let go of your sardonic attitude and let the love of Jesus lift you high above it all.

“Bitterness imprisons life; love releases it. Bitterness paralyzes life; love empowers it. Bitterness sours life; love sweetens it. Bitterness sickens life; love heals it. Bitterness blinds life, love anoints its eyes.” -Harry Emereson Fosdick

Don’t let this blog drive you to the pit of hell and bitterness.

Interesting name, cbcsavedme. I thought it was Jesus who saves people.

Happy Anniversary to a thought-provoking blog.

Forget about the bitterness counter, how many times have you been told that this blog is going to be the reason you burn in the pit of hell.

There is a Scripture to back up anything you want. So, stop using Scripture to back up your philosphy that church attendees should be seen & not heard. We’re speaking up here on this blog for what we believe is Biblically right, and I can find a hell of a lot of Scriptures to back that up if you want me to. Yah, maybe some of us are bitter, but we’re working on that, and some others here aren’t so bitter, but we’re talking, which is what a lot of people in the church aren’t doing. We’re standing up for what is right–and you can write the edification verse anytime you want. I, personally, have found a lot of edification here. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only person out there that feels the way I do! Who are you to say what drives us into the pit of hell anyway? ‘F’ you!

    CBCsavedme,

You see, my friend, it is attitudes like yours that abhor me. Even in your effort to reform Cat and RP, exhorting them to Christ’s love and forgiveness, you can’t help but throw in that one last jab of judgmentalism. You prove the point for the bajillionth and oneth time that CBC fosters a culture and mindset of judgment and legalism. Telling them that blogging is going to send them to the pit of Hell isn’t exactly “without malice” or Christlike. Last time I checked, it was our faith in Christ, not our agreement with CBC, that saves us from Hell.

    cbcsavedme,

I think we can see the problem in your name. If you really were saved at CBC then you just don’t know any better.

That’s ok. One day, after you’ve given your life savings to help boost Frank’s ego, you’ll realize that there’s more to Christianity then good coffee.

Fortunately for you, the real CBC (City Business) will be there to help.

I am curious though… who told you about that scripture? Or did you open to it accidentally while looking for Malachi 3?

Anyway, I pray that you will allow God’s love to transcend all the anger and resentment that you have towards a BLOG that has done so much for people…Let go of your sardonic attitude and let the love of Jesus lift you high above it all.

Don’t let THAT CHURCH drive you to the pit of hell and bitterness.

    With Love,

    Johnpaul Morton

PS: Happy Birthday Catalyst and congratulations on another successful year.

cbcsavedme, I could as easily say that idolatry of cbc will send you to hell, you don’t know where you would be without cbc? and they saved you? The bloggers that are saved are not so because of cbc, and without cbc many of them would likely have much healthier walks with the Lord.
Here is hoping that you can actually dialouge with people on this sight (if your spiritual covering will let you) some on this blog are truly saved and hate works centered righteousness, crossless preaching, and a man centered gospel which is no gospel at all. Good quote by Fosdick we would all do well to consider it. non-ahole dude
