Another one bites the dust
Posted on March 17th, 2006 by catalyst into the Pastoral Staff categorySources close to City Bible have confirmed that Larry Asplund will no longer be teaching at PBC. He is moving on to a "new assignment". This is all the information I have for now, but I will let you know if I hear more.
And is it just me, or has PBC become a glorified "internship" program?

Well, PBC has a specific mandate and role… and I guess they aren’t willing to expand that.
If Larry knows God is leading him to something else, then I think it’s fantastic that he’s willing/able to leave so many long-established and comfortable relationships to pursue what God has placed in his heart.
It’s a testimony to his integrity that he’s doing this.

Definitely becoming an internship program. They need to take the word ‘college’ out of their name and get real.

Yes, my friends. I’m off to teach in a University in the South (www.beacon.edu). If you’re interested, I’m blogging my journey (georgia.blogspot.com).

It is certainly possible, but I can’t help but be skeptical since the Beacon U. web site doesn’t list Larry as faculty, and the blog you mentioned has a single post made by “Rebecca” on Mar 26, 2001?
Hey, Morton boys! Are we sure this is even the real Slim Shady?

Oops. Sorry. It’s georgiapine.blospot.com. Since the decision to move to Georgia was just made it will be awhile before I appear on any official Beacon material. Who is the real FICM anyway?

Larry, you have the gift of typo! You misspelled blogspot. haha Sorry to be so skeptical, I just needed to be sure.
I applaud your decision and think it’s more than coincidence - it’s clearly Providence that is leading you to the next big thing at such a time. I’m going to be good and leave it at that becase…I got through a couple of paragraphs of comments and questions and realized they would probably inappropriate for an open forum of discussion. I’ll send you an email to the address on your blog, if that works. You do know me, and I’m eager to talk about this further. Until then, I’ll give you a hint as to who I am. I ran into you at Starbucks at Gateway about a year or so ago while I was visiting from out of town. I gave you my business card.
God bless,
