Another view on Paul deParrie
Posted on May 25th, 2006 by catalyst into the Uncategorized categoryCouv Operator sends in this link to a Steve Duin article discussing Paul's life.
I'll admit that Mr. Duin offers a much more accurate relfection of Paul deParrie. As my brother Jesse asked me the other day, "How do you think Paul is going to feel when he sees all those gays in Heaven with him?"
Money quote:
In the process, however, deParrie's ability to hinder access to an abortion clinic effectively blocked. He spent the final years of his life haranguing evangelical churches for their apathy on abortion and cuffing Right to Life. ("Protecting the babies is not their goal, protecting their 'movement' is.")
I will always have a soft spot in my heart for him for picketing City Bible Church.

On a completely unrelated side note: I would love to see you readers that live in Portland at Kells tonight. The first beer is on me. And if you don't drink, then your first Coke is on me. That said, I wonder if sometimes these online communities work best when we don't meet eachother. I guess we'll find out.

I’ll tip the Bushmills tonight in solidarity. And since you will be at Kell’s discussing all things CBC/PBC perhaps a toast to Tommy Wardle is in order?

Kell’s two nights in a row, woo-hoo!
You know Catalyst, I was kind of wondering the same thing. On one hand I am really quite curious to see what all you people look like and if you are as witty and entertaining in person as you are on-line. But I never actually attended CBC and I wonder if this will be more like a reunion.
Quite generous of you Catalyst to offer to buy the first round. What if EVERYONE comes?
I really wish I liked beer more. I was actually looking forward to a little G&T. But since I won’t know anyone there, if curiosity gets the best of me, I can guarantee I’ll have my first one before I get there.:-)
To Pastor Jack: too bad you can’t make it to the NW a little earlier. Would love to meet you and Karen in person.

Can’t wait. I’ll be the homeschooler with braces sitting in the corner.
May 25th, 2006 at 12:08 pm
Are we sure it’s safe to have so many homeschoolers in a small place? I might get CAT test flashbacks…

Fezzik I don’t know if you live in town or not, but if you do I’d love to see you there.
Your comments really cut… and I love it.

RP, I am in town, but I’m not sure when the galley master is letting me off my oar tonight. I’ll try to make an appearance though.

I’m going to LOL if Pastor Frank shows up.
I wouldn’t know, since I’m not going… but for you guys. That would be hilarious.

I don’t think I will know anyone or recognize anyone. Is there anyone going that I know? karli

We would be there if we didn’t live so far far away! Boohoo! We would definitely join in a toast to Tommy Wardle!
I can’t wait to hear how it turns out and remember… no brawling over doctrine. It’s unseemly.

Tommy Wardle!!
Now there’s a name from the past…many hours did I spend with himself and Rita.
I’ll be spending a few weeks in Belfast this summer, and will look up a couple of ex-PBC students while there. Hmmm, maybe I should add Tommy’s name just for old time’s sake…but then again, I think no.
Hope ya’ll enjoyed Kell’s.

I actually had the honor of being called a “muslim terrorist” by Tim Nashif one time when I went to check out what my dad was doing outside the dome.
Maybe you could drop the “Church” and just call it “City Business”.

Paul’s other daughter:
Tim Nashif is known for his completely inappropriate and ignorant comments; unfortunately, he says them with conviction and judgment, which makes him look even more ridiculous, but unfortunately can make the recipient reel a bit before deciding to ignore him.
