More Links: Frank’s Generosity?

Posted on July 5th, 2006 by catalyst into the Uncategorized category

Here are a couple of links I received over the Holiday Weekend.

Larry Asplund posted a thank you letter to Frank Damazio on his blog, Georgia Pine. Henri had some interesting thoughts on the Thank-You, but I'll let him re-post them in the comments if he likes.

Also, reader Anthony sends me a link to a new blog, called Blog by AK. The writer has this to say about the Sunday Church Service: (I'm not sure which church the blogger attends.)

We learned how to give, give, give. I love the church I go to but I sometimes wonder why they must incorporate the usual tithe/giving message into every third sentence.

God is great. God is good. Give us money.

Tithe = 10% of your GROSS income. Mandatory.

Offering = What ever you have left after bills. Optional but highly recommended.

Whatever you have left after bills? That made me laugh. I guess the concept of savings is beside the point.

Why save here when you can store up your treasures in heaven?

    Well…

looks like this blog is finally beginning to suck, as it were.

I noticed that the last 5 or so blogs have had about 3-4 comments each.

Maybe it’s all that sunshine beeming down on us or maybe it’s because the topics have become increasingly STUPID.

    YES!!! FINALLY

But the good thing is that someones gonna get a book deal and they are going to make a killing via the Christian Bookstore.

All is well that ends well.

I still have hope that this blog will keep mentioning the injustices rather than promoting our diffent “imbalances” as humans.

This blog is becoming and starting to sound like every STUPID christian Youth rag that my mom tried to shove down my throat.

P.S. Come watch The Liars CLub perform at Hawthorne Theatre on Sat JULY 29th

something real for a change folks

Wow, crap on the blog and then plug your pet project. So classy.

With the holiday weekend, I was surprised to see any posts at all, so it’s probably harsh to judge the blog on its performance over the past few weeks. I know the guys are always trying to come up with material to talk about, but it’s not easy. Go read something else for awhile and come back in a week or so.

    Yo Michael,

Read www.dooce.com……it always makes me smile.

What’s the Liars Club? I’m not in Portland, so I can’t go see for myself….

    heh.

well, Michael at least you signed your name. I can appreciate that. Good luck with your show Saturday, and I’ll try to drop a few more F-bombs in the upcoming posts to keep the blog from sounding too Christian.

The Morton brothers are doing a great job. I’m not interested in every blog but where else are you gonna find so many bitter rantings against organized religion?

Thanks for the love. We’ve been through this too many times before. Yes, the blog sometimes sucks. That’s because JP and I are running it and sometimes we suck. Anyway, I’ll second Jimney and recommend www.dooce.com or my favorite www.gofugyourself.com.

    Bye Mike,

I’ll miss the irrelevant rantings, mind numbing rap, and general illiteracy. You have caused me to chuckle off to sleep many a night. I’ll have to up my dose of Ambien without you.

May the angst be with you :-)

Kudos to PF and the staff at CBC for doing the right thing. Ya’ gotta’ call ‘em like ya’ see ‘em. They did the right thing in this case for Larry.

Kudos to Larry for his graciousness and humility.

    May God bless them both.

Here’s my take on CBC’s “generosity” to the Asplunds: had CBC/PBC been paying them adequately over lo-these many years, perhaps they would have been able to afford to live for a month without an income, to pay that one lingering mortgage payment up here, and buy their own health benefits for their 90-day transition. I have no personal knowledge of the Asplunds’ salary levels, but I know enough about CBC to know how the whole employment piece works; trust me, they’re not all making bank.

Good for Larry to have a good attitude, though.

    I just can’t get enough!!

FFTM, You totally took the words out of my mouth!! That’s the first thing that came to my mind when I read this “Thanks for your great generosity” post. Larry Asplund worked for CBC/PBC for a LONG time and he still didn’t earn enough to set aside a little bit of an emergency fund? Shame on them.

If you feel threatened, I understand.

And a good “believer” never says goodbye. Only “C ya”… I think Mcihael W. Smith said that… lol

Arcane Warrior’s mental state is the reason racism flourishes.

Gotta crack that dome open once in a while buddy and taste a few things ya don’t know before you can start cooking in the kitchen.

Arcane and I share Christ’s love of destruction!

    Burn baby burn!

    Cheers!

    Have a great Weekend All.

I’m coming to PDX to sit-it on my Grandma Mendenhall’s passing on.

These family “get-togathers” won’t be the same without her devilled eggs and watchful eye.

Arcane. You post your thoughts as facts.

    I post thoughts as thoughts.

    Get over it.

I dealt with enough “get’er dones” who thought they knew everything in the military already.

    Post your thoughts…

And understand that your mental process is the same prodcess that allows people to believe they are justified in racism.

P.S. I’m not referencing racism here based on any racist acts that have occurred to me. I am mentioning it because people who can live their whole lives as racists tend to talk/type/interact with others in life, the same way you do on this blog.

Arcane. If your here to stop the flow of new ideas, your doing a decent job.

youve probably been lost for a long time. Getting lost is not hard to do if you’ve never explored the area outside your tiny little box.
