Great article in the NYT about a megachurch in Memphis that feels Lady Liberty is missing a little something.
And evidently, that something is Jesus.

I would like to thank all who prayed for me while I was hospitalized. I am grateful. A new chapter has begun for me where His grace is more than sufficient and His power is perfected in my weakness. I won’t try to explain. I doubt Jacob could either as he limped off that mountain.

I’m sure that’s just what the French had in mind when they crated her up and shipped her over way back in the day. I wonder what would happen if I dared mention to a church member that the statue was a gift from France. I’d probably be better off telling them the Baby Jesus wasn’t white.
