Christian Speakers: He’s no Jonah.

Oregon native Harold Reynolds was recently fired from his announcing gig at ESPN for sexual harrassment. Evidently, he has a history of this behavior and when he "inappropriately hugged" a personal assistant at Outback this past week, the ESPN Brass had enough and fired him. Rumor has it, his wife who had just given birth, was also none to pleased.
However, as with every cloud, there is a silver lining and hopefully this recent firing will give Mr. Reynolds a chance to focus on his other career, which includes being a Christian Speaker through the group All American Speakers. Check it out.
Harold shares this testimony:
Some people think that Christianity is a crutch that people use to overcome problems in their life. Something's wrong in their life that they can't fix, and so they lean on God. That was never the case with me. I was never into drugs or alcohol. I didn't run around. I wasn't into partying. I was never down and out. And yet God saved me.
Yes, God did save Harold. And although Harold wasn't into drugs, alcohol or partying, I suggest that All American Speakers update his bio a bit and include some of his other: "likes and dislikes."
Likes: Long Close Hugs and Personal Assistants.
Dislikes: His wife and Accountability.

ouch. not too sure what to say here. my dad grew up with harold and his brothers in corvallis, oregon. i’ve met him before and he certainly seemed like a likeable, decent guy. i only shook his hand, so i can’t vouch for the (non) appropriateness of his hugs. guess it just goes to show, again, how we all, christian or not, make mistakes. some of us just in a more spectacular way.
now i wonder if this will make his baseball cards go up or down in value?

It’s reminiscent of the Eugene Robinson situation a couple of years ago where an otherwise stand-up Christian got caught cruising for “professionals” the night before the Super Bowl in Miami, Fla. It’s sad.
I have a friend who’s close to one of the people who was in the room when Harold was let go. Evidently our guy had a Bart Simpson-esque HR file at the Worldwide Leader and this was the final straw. Don’t be surprised to see him doing the Fox Game of The Week before Labor Day. He’d probably fit in on that Best Damned Sports Show show too.

I’ve met Harold and he’s a very likeable guy. Gave me a $10 tip for a $15 dollar meal when I worked with Norstrom’s Restaurants crew.
He is a personality. By that, I mean, he’s paid to be himself. I’m sure his wife was getting a little tired of his personality, from the little I’ve heard, and I’m sure ESPN was looking for new blood. He has been around for awhile. Not necessarilly a spring chicken in media.
It’s show biz and the more controversy, the more money is involved.
Long close hugs with women??? Sounds like something alot better than a beating.
I’ll back Harold on this one.
He paid me off long ago.

I wonder when Berman is going to get “persuaded” to retire for his fondness with the ladies?

Long close hugs with women…I’m confused. We’re not talking about Frank Damazio are we? Sounds the same…

Berman is provided fluffers in his dressing room by ESPN. They’ll never get rid of him.
