You guys are cute and I admire your “bristle.” You believe what you believe and you appear passionate about standing up for it.
When I was a senior in high school (TCHS, no less) I was very active in BT/CBC’s youth group and shared what I can only describe as the same kind of “tone” as you guys. I had a very good christian friend, albeit a year younger and attending public school. I found out she had been “drinking,” (which I had never done) so I did what any good BT’er would do. I took her out to lunch and chastised the crap out of her for her actions.
Mind you, she didn’t get “drunk,” she merely hung out with people who drank and infrequently would have a drink herself. Regardless, I threw the ole “avoid the appearance of evil” shpeel at her and gave her a good tongue lashing. It affected our friendship from that day forward! And all these years later I consider it one of my most regrettable moments of my youth. My perception was so myopic and rigid, it was everything that I dislike so much about “the mega church” today!
Questioning what you believe is one of the healthiest things you can do. Allowing yourself the maturity to understand that GRACE is what saves us, not the things we do, or who we submit ourselves to, etc. is fundamental.
Sure, things on this blog get a bit “colored” at times, and not everyone is going to like that. Sort of like how having a beer now and again is not appreciated by all Christians (present blog company definitely excluded).
Guess I would just encourage you to realize we talk about what we talk about because of the road we’ve travelled so far. And rather than try to give us a good ole tongue lashin’ maybe you’d find more peace by just praying for us. The same way I’ll find more peace praying that some day your eyes will be opened to a bigger God and less judgemental religiosity.
A certain guest blogger added a parenthetical statement to the posts of Respect and Elana, suggesting a hint of hypocricy in their ‘holier than thou’ attitude, in as much as Respect and Elana are just 2 of the approximately 9 different blog identities he/she/it has created in the last 3-4 days from the same IP address, with very similar email addresses, often within seconds of the previous post.
JP was suggesting, I believe, that they share a single pair of panties, and, perhaps might enjoy a Judah thong? They are rather comfortable.

i do understand that it is by grace we are saved, and to everyone, i can say that i do not think i am holier than you because i (by myself) am not holy. i am just a sinner who has been saved by grace and is longing to grow closer to jesus with every day. as im sure, you also have been saved by grace when you didnt deserve it, so its not about whos holier, because we cant measure that. i am not intending to be judgemental, and im sorry when it appears to be that way, but that is not what i am intending.
