Things Dougie doesn’t have

Posted on April 19th, 2007 by Reformed Pope into the The City Church category

Just so you know, we don't make this stuff up. You might think Samaritan stayed up late one night putting this together but I swear, this is not us…

Here, for you viewing pleasure, is a video advertising…no…I'm not gonna spoil it (but Judah Smith is in it).

And don't worry, this one's short.

This video rivals “Waiting for Guffman” in the category of “endings that amaze me…and make me laugh with glee.”

And forgive me if I saw wrong — but were there dancers elevated behind a screen so that you only see their silhouettes?
    Wha?

The line at the end: “Bringing the reality of God to this generation … Judah Smith.” Wow.

Most of you are too young to remember the play/movie Jesus Christ Superstar. There was a song in it that told Jesus that He went about it all wrong: He could have reached so many more people if He lived in this day of mass communciation.

So this video is telling me that God finally got it right. Now the way to reach this generation is with dancing silhouettes, swinging spotlights, crying girls, dj’s with vinyl LPs and Judah. Who’d a thought?

TCRefugee (?) said something about a Christianized version of American Idol … this video suggests maybe a Christianized version of MTV …

I wondered the exact same thing. All this time I’ve been going to the wrong church.

So, was God waiting for Judah to come along in order to be RELEVANT?

I looks more like a rock concert than a worship service. I just don’t think the power of Goc needs all that funk and flash in order to affect the lives of teens or anyone else.

Of course He does. It’s all ball bearings these days.

Judah Smith is the Christian version of Sanjaya! If only we could vote him off the show!

Yeah I was one of the dancer that got cut in the first round of the audition. It was so cut throat. Evidently they felt my hip-hop movements where to controversal and didn’t envoke the holy spirit. I really thought it would look good on my resume too. Win some lose some!

IF YOU CAME TODAY YOU WOULD HAVE REACH A WHOLE NATION!
ISRAEL 4 B.C HAD NO MASS COMMUNICATION!!!

Jesus Christ Superstar is one of the coolest movies ever. So funny you mentioned it it’s favorite of mine. Sadly I think that movie would be better in helping people come to christ then that video above and that movie was made by some serious secularist lol, they make Jesus look like who his is, the Son Of God and all powerful but also as a human being while he was here on earth. I mean cmon, he did ask God to take this cup away from him! The video is all flash and NO substance.

“this video suggests maybe a Christianized version of MTV …”

It is exactly what it is! It’s like my grandfather (God rest his soul) would always say to my mom was she was a little girl growing up in the south in the 1950’s:

“Just because a person is dancing in church doesn’t mean he is saved or even close to it. Cut off the same music and start playin’ some Elvis and most of those same fools would keep right on dancing.”

“Yeah I was one of the dancer that got cut in the first round of the audition. It was so cut throat. Evidently they felt my hip-hop movements where to controversal and didn’t envoke the holy spirit. I really thought it would look good on my resume too. Win some lose some!”

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!?!? It’s gotten that hard-core in Judah-land? Lord have mercy.

It’s cause his fauk-hawk is too short and perfectly coiffed and he is doing the preppy/emo thing wrong. He has to pick one and not try to do both at the same time. He needs to pick a fad and stick with it.
