A Poem
Posted on May 3rd, 2007 by catalyst into the About Us categoryIt has come to our attention that several long serving members of City Bible have recently been fired or re-appointed by the Holy Spirit or whatever it is they call it.
Anyway, in light of these recent firings, I'm reminded of an old poem about the Holocaust. I've modified it a bit for our purposes.
First they came…
First they came for the Mortons, but I wasn't a Morton, so I didn't speak up.
Then they came for the non-tithers, but I tithed, so I said nothing.
Then they came for the PBC professors, but I wasn't a PBC professor, so I said nothing.
Then they came for me, and only person left was Marc Estes, and I knew I was screwed.

I’d be willing to bet you a beer that none of the “anointed” lost their jobs, or got a pay cut.

If I had to guess, I would have put Gareth Gilpin in the “annointed” catagory. I had even heard speculation from one ex-elder that Gareth would one day take over for Frank as SPGG…
It’s a shame that they lost Gareth. I never really knew him (he was my small group leader at YO! when I first started @ CBC) but he always seemed like one of the good guys.
Of course we just lost Jack Louman out of that category (another story for another day)…so what do I know?
Also, wasn’t Gareth the last Iverson link to CBC?

haha Just as we’re not talking about a poor excuse for a beer. Anything Widmer is cool.
To clarify, by “anointed” I mean anyone with “pastor” in their title. Everyone else is expendable.
