Since I am going to spend the next 24 hours devoted to discussing the merits of Greg Oden versus Kevin Durant, and looking out for the Sam Bowie of 2007, I won't be blogging about church today.
But if there are any other Blazer fans out there, feel free to share your thoughts on this momentous day.
If picking Brandon Roy didn’t bring me back into the fold of Blazer Believers their next pick just might. But like you, I’m thinking Sam Bowie vs. Michael Jordan, part deux.
My only concern about Oden is that he is clearly in his early 30′s and won’t have a long NBA career. (His mother can waive around that fake birth-certificate all she wants. I’m not buying it.)
Durant on the other hand, has incredible potential. He had some 40 pt. 20 rebound games at Texas that were amazing.
Not saying the Blazers should pick Durant, just saying it isn’t clear.
I’m flying back on Thursday for our family’s annual Memorial Day Beach Trip. We might be going out on Thursday to celebrate.

Sorry, but I’m a sonics fan…and just as excited! Either guy will be a great pick, I’m just afraid the sonics will mess it up and pick another high school center who would be great on the practice squad.
It’s the Year of the NorthWest in the NBA.
When do I get my Championship share?

Just ran the ESPN mock draft and the Blazers ended up with Greg Oden. I’m going to accept this as reality until proven otherwise.

I think its pretty cool that Portland got #1, hopefully it will be a few short years for the NW teams to turn it around (hopefully the sonics will stay in Seattle).
About churches in Seattle, i think it would be a different story if the ones here would preach the One True Gospel.
I’m pretty much a fair weather Sonics and Blazer fan. (football’s more my bag, baby!) But I do miss the Rip City days just as much as I miss the Reign Man (Rain?) days! Payton to Kemp was a beautiful thing!
I’m definitely glad both teams will get a boost this year. Seattle really needs it. Roy was already a great addition for the Blazers and they should be able to build off that foundation even more now!
Craig, I read through your entire email exchange with Wendell. How sad. I once sat across from that man and looked for his guidance on some specific spiritual issues. I felt he was genuine at the time, but years later when I was up in Seattle attending the U, I attended the city church and felt things had changed quite a bit. I applaud your efforts to break free and civilly discuss why you are doing so. It’s pathetic that he didn’t have the gumption to continue “discussing” your points with you.
Oh well…another person free from the matrix though! Kudo to you and yours.
I say Durant…..but you know what will happen don’t you?……whoever they pick (or God forbid….trade their pick for) will end up being a Sam Bowie while the other will be Jordan….but look at the players!!!….Durant has more of a Michael Jordan make-up in talent and creative ability….Oden is more like (Bowie?) Shaq or other very good….but not great….centers and big men. My opinion anyway…still “anonymous” because I care!
