Paying to Pray

Posted on June 13th, 2007 by catalyst into the Biblical Parody category

A new website has been established by the International House of Prayer and God TV, called The Prayer Room. The site allows a person to join in prayer over the web anytime of the day.

And, as luck would have it, the organizers of The Prayer Room are offering a free three day trial.

We want to invite you to become one of the thousands that believe with us that God’s agenda includes Global Intercession. This includes touching those in secluded parts of the world with a stream of anointing. With this tool, which was once unknown and hidden is now open to all, the poor and hungry of the Earth.

As a special gift, we are offering a FREE TRIAL to our new High Quality webstream. We trust you will be blessed and encouraged as you join with us and thousands of others around the world, in Day and Night prayer.

Until He Comes,

Mike Bickle And Rory Alec

I suspect that when He comes, He is going to be pissed that Bickle and Alec were using His name to charge the poor to pray.

I’ve actually seen T-shirts from days gone by that said “Jesus is coming, and boy is He pissed”. I used to dismiss those shirts as blasphemous, but looking at what passes for Christianity in some circles, I heartily agree with that statement.

I believe in Global Prayer, and will be praying that the true Gospel…. unadulterated with appeals for money, get-rich schemes, gimmicks, bells & whistles….will penetrate the whole world.

Thank you so much for the link to this prayer room, it is one
of my favorite places. I imagine it cost for all the equipment and workers to send it out world wide. I am more than happy
to pay money for it. God only knows how much money I
spend on i-tunes and dvd’s and movies. I have listen to
International house of prayer and Mike Bickle for a number
of years, and I have never seen or heard him abuse his
ministry for his own gain or to teach if you only give to his
ministry you will surely receive 10 fold or 100 or what ever.
    Thanks again.

Mike Bickle … ugh … it was at a Kansas City Prophetic conference years ago, that after worship, I heard Mike call for an “offering for the poor”… and the Spirit said “the poor are among you” and I remembered a friend in attendence who had just lost her home after taking care of her quadripalegic father for several years after his stroke - the moment he died, they cut him off, and thereby my friend who took care of him.

So the spirit instructed me to write him a letter of correction, and leave it on the pulpit - but you guessed it - there were “pulpit guards” … and on opening the next session after lunch, the buttinski gets up there and says that he won’t receive any word of correction from anyone except those who work for/with him …

That was one of the foundational experiences that led to my series of articles refuting the tithe …

My humorous observation of Mike Bickle at the time was “strike the words lovesick bride of Christ from his vocabulary and he wouldn’t have a thing to say” … I would also observe that Mike probably wouldn’t even register on radar if not for bring Paul Cain to KC MO and parading him around like a living icon of the ‘prophetic movement’. Religious incestuousness hath birthed that ministry, me thinks …

Unless they changed things, you can get it for free the first Mon/Tue/Wed of the month. It’s also broadcast at various times on GodTV, carried on some of the satellite networks.

Why would you have to PAY $$ to pray or get prayer? Sounds like a scam to me…

But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will repay you.” Matthew 6.6 (New American Bible)

Why do you pay for a bible? Should not Christian companies give that away for free? Give me a break.

One wonders if they have had cause to regret that decision in light of Paul Cain’s recent problems, in an area not altogether unrelated to your use of the above term.

The following was taken from Rick Joyner’s MorningStar website:

    An Update on Paul Cain
By Mike Bickle, Rick Joyner and Jack Deere
    January 22, 2007

In light of Paul Cain’s recent announcement of restoration to ministry, we have been repeatedly asked for input. First, we rejoice in God’s mercy that provides anyone with total forgiveness for any sin that is repented of. However, forgiveness of our sin is not the same as being restored to public ministry. We care much about Paul’s life before God and his future ministry. We believe that his future ministry could far surpass his former ministry, if he allows the full restoration process to take place. Paul originally agreed to submit to Larry Alberts and his team in his restoration process. These men are well known and respected by many of Paul’s friends in ministry. We strongly urged him not to leave Larry’s care and oversight. However, he left Larry’s oversight just over a year ago and moved to California to relate to a group of men that we do not know much about. Neither do we know the process that they say that Paul went through. Therefore, we cannot say with confidence that this is a genuine restoration that is according to the principles of God’s Word. It will be harmful to Paul and others if he is released prematurely and then relapses into his past failures. As shepherds in the Body of Christ, we would bear great responsibility if another person was hurt by Paul’s sin. We ask you to join with us as we continue to ask for the fullness of God’s grace in his life and for his future restoration to public ministry.

Joebib, I’m not sure I believe the Paul Cain stories that have come out of Bickle’s organization. It just has to do with the strong feeling of control and manipulation I felt at several of KCF/Metro conferences, observing how the conferences built to a Paul Cain finale, how they trotted him out on stage and all the glad-handing and back-slapping crap that went on … Paul wasn’t doing that - but Mike Bickle, Rick Joyner, Kingsley Fletcher (to a lesser extent), and the others were. Paul Cain had a loving, affable, gracious spirit … that spirit of the others were self exalting, etc. Heck, SPFD was at one of the conferences I attended - he spent 5 minutes telling everyone about his 4 intercessors who traveled with him … Paul didn’t do anything like that - He just talked about Jesus and what he was hearing and seeing from the Spirit.

At one conference, I remarked to the person I went with that “I wouldn’t be surprised to see them strap Paul to a dolly and wheel him out on stage …” after he dies, or can’t walk any more.

Personally, I think their disclosure of Paul’s sins (if indeed it is true) has a hell of a lot more to do with control, manipulation and self exaltation than it does with helping and restoring Paul. So, if Paul moved to California, away from the vipers brood in KC MO, I think that’s a good thing. ;)

That’s not to say that I agree with Paul, rather, that I’ve witnessed them all at conference, observed their spirits / fruit in action and therefore have my suspicions about what’s behind the disclosure. The way they went about it was truly ugly.

Note, I have recently found and intend to read the Ernie Gruen report called The Kansas City Prophets Exposed . The page provides a link to the 233 page Adobe Acrobat file.

    Ummm… tangible vs. intangible.

    GIVE ME A BREAK

I don’t see how this is different than most other ministries. CCLI charges for worship. Hillsong charges for their CDs. Pastors charge for books. If they were taking offerings for their ministry, would that change your opinion on this? If a prayer chain uses the phone, then everyone has to pay monthly for a phone. If a prayer chain uses email, then computer, internet, etc are all needed and expensive. So what’s wrong with the money going to a Christian company instead of a heathen company?

Besides you don’t expect the latté to be free at your local Christian coffee shop do you?
In my best Monty Python Jewish voice: What, you think I get these doves for free?
