Your Friday Rumor

Posted on November 30th, 2007 by catalyst into the About Us category

…word on the street is that Dick Iverson has selected the pastor to replace him as leader of MFI.

The rumor is that he decided to choose from his Executive Committee, which includes Frank Damazio, Wendell Smith and Bob MacGregor.

And the person he chose is…

…(drum roll please)…

…Bob MacGregor.

I claim a victory for City Business Church.

Interesting. Bob does seem like the less “influenced” by the movmement at spfd and spws churches.. but he is still deep in the fold of it all…

I consider Bob to be the lesser of three evils.

This is no rumor. And as someone that left City Bible during the “Forward Together” debacle and went to City Harvest (BM’s church), let me tell you that I’ve heard nothing there about Faith Harvest, or any other giving gimmick ever. Bob is completely straight forward about the church finances and encourages tithing. He also does not make anyone sign any legalistic prohibitions on the consumption of alcohol. Once he even made a statement concerning drinking to the effect of: “Why should I put a burden on my congregation that the Bible doesn’t even put on the eldership.” Well said Bob, and congratulations on the position, even though I’m sure you have accepted it only with great humility and reservation.

You’re way behind the curve (for once!). This news is almost two months old… I think Bob’s a great choice. I attended his church the Sunday after the MFI conference, and I saw him announce the news to his church.

What impressed me was how humble he was about it. “All this means, plainly and simply, is more work” he said. In my opinion, that’s exactly the attitude a good servant-leader should have.

I think we can be sure that Pastor Dick has grieved many times since that PF transition took place.
Many of us as part of the old Bible Temple days also thought that frank was a great choice for the new Church leadership. My, My , My!!! How wrong we were.
Now we grieve along with PD because of all that has happened to the church since that transition.

I feel sorry for those that dont have enough to do with their time but to stir up dirt in others backyards. As the old saying goes make sure your dirt is hauled away before you go looking for someone elses. And watch out what goes around tends to come around.
I think City Bilbe and ALL its leaders both past and present are GREAT men of God. I hope the person who wrote this orginal blog does not live in a class house or you know of a good glass company.

Do unto others as Jesus would do.
    Have a Merry Christmas

Don’t forget “you reap what you sow,” and “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

Be honest, you just made the phrase up?

We in Idaho just hope being the leader of MFI doesn’t ‘ruin’ a great guy. sigh.

Why would Frank want Bro. Dick’s MFI when he can start his own? Look for a “network” of churches affiliated with CBC to break ranks with MFI and do their own thing. All the best to Bob and may MFI prosper under his care!

I so hope this is true.

I just visited City Bible Church over Christmas holidays and Pastor Iverson has NOT stepped down, this is a lie.

  16. KariMichelle said:

True, Pastor Iverson has not stepped down. Bob Mac will be taking over when Pastor Iverson goes on to be with the Lord . . .so PI has chosen his successor.

I go to Bob’s church and he’s so the opposite of everything we talk about here. He is a servant-leader and DEF. not a Pastor-King. There is no cult around him–which is really healthy and refreshing. He’s very non-authoritative and doesn’t mind being questioned on things and challenged.
And although we’re in a building program, there’s been no financial pressure.

We’ve had the tithing talk and neither of us changed our minds nor did he exert any pressure. He also knows I’m “of the blog” and it has not been an issue, though I think he’s sorry that it has hurt people that he cares about.

This is my problem with Bob. He’s an enabler.

He doesn’t preach the prosperity doctrine. But he defends it. He protects the people who do preach the doctrine. And he supports an institution (MFI) that protects pastors over the congregation.

Not sure I can agree with you there, but this I know. If you ask Bob to meet with you over these issues, he would. And with a sincere heart.

Thanks, Kari. You’re right, Bob is a truly genuine pastor.
