PBC In Need
Posted on December 13th, 2007 by catalyst into the Uncategorized categoryFor those of you who don't read the comments:
I just got the letter from CBC sent out to all PBC Alumni requesting $1000 to pay for the boiler that broke under dorm 2. It says they need $80k, which sounds right, but here is going to be the problem: The last capital campaign CBC did was to raise money to rehab the campus, start a west campus, retire the debt, and do evangelism (Forward Together).
Since the CBC leadership lied as to what they were using the money for (they are more in debt now than ever and the east campus still looks like shizz), they are going to have to overcome a serious credibility issue. And since Ken Malmin was demoted, and Larry Asplund, Linda Asplund, Eugene Greco, Joy Greco, Joel and Alyn Shinness, Larry Henderson, Mary Henderson, Larry Taylor, Ken Ross, and Jan Weinstein were all either fired or driven away from PBC, why in the he__ do you think any of us alumni would give CBC a red cent? They fired all our favorite teachers and replaced them with Gen pastors that can’t even show up to class on time.
By the way, if CBC receives more than 80k for the boiler, will they return the rest of the money? Puh-leease. As an alumnus of PBC I would love to contribute to a college I have such fond memories of for whatever need they have of. The problem is, that college that I attended no longer exists.
Ouch! Well said.

You may as well give your money to me: www.gimmeabuck.com
At least I’m honest about what I’ll do with it.

Sounds like you are boiling mad about this. This whole deal is really getting me steamed up! Get it? Never mind…dumb joke.
CBC has made me just throw my hands up and say, whatever! They are a lost cause pretending to be something great. I love the people, not the place.

So lets get this straight, if I went to PBC, I’d get even more requests for money from CBC?
I’m happy I went to junior college then…

PLEASE HELP–
I need a new furnace and AC in my house, approximately $4000. If all of you would send me $400, that should about cover it.
I also need to repair the master bath floor, approximately $1000. If all of you would send me $100, that should about cover it.
I will soon need a new roof, approximately $5000. If all of you would send me $500 for this, that should about cover it.
I would like to retire my consumer debt. Just $200 or $300 from each of you would be greatly appreciated.
Any monies received in excess of above-stated needs will be given to City Business to help with any of their needs.
Thank you so much in advance.

I used rough estimates.. kinda like PBC did for needing $80k and asking for $1000 from each alumni.
but PLEASE .. more than 10 of you respond!!

Dear CBC Leadership,
Thank you for including me in your campaign to raise money for the new boiler, though I will not be able to contribute at this time. I would however like to offer another solution that I received today in prayer. If each room in the PBC dorms was outfitted with a space heater, such as the type sold at WalMart for $10, it seems the heat problem would be solved. Since there are 4 dorms of 30 rooms each the total cost would only be $1200, and this incredible financial burden would be lifted from your shoulders.
Blessings, and best of luck with all your capital campaigns you have planned for the coming year.

Did you actually send that letter?
I think they should do foreclosure….
It’s kind of trend now a day.
i!

Ya know indy, if I were to send it - snail mail, e-mail, or otherwise - they would never read it. Putting it on this blog though gets it read by half of the CBC staff.

Sola, hate to burst your bubble, but you do know that space heaters run off of electicity, right? Or does Wall Mart sell the wind up kind?
December 13th, 2007 at 10:07 pm
Last time I lived in the dorms there were electrical outlets that seemed to be able to handle just about anything we hooked up to them. I’m surprised you didn’t know that, unless maybe you had one of those wind up computers.

Oh, yeah, does this mean you’re sending CBC 1Grand Jeremiah?
December 14th, 2007 at 5:10 am
good idea in part, sola fide, but heating the rooms with individual heaters only solves part of the problem. speaking as an ex-dorm 2 girl myself, i’m pretty sure they would like hot water for showers too.
not that i’m about to send them any money.

Sola, I was getting at the electrical costs of running 120 space heaters. Maybe someone could just pray down “more fire” and solve this problem, or sow 800 dollars to an electricl contractor and get a hundred fold return!
December 14th, 2007 at 8:40 am
How about if they purchase and install 120 individual hot water heaters?
One for each room?
This would cost around $36,000.. which leaves well enough left over to cover the costs of re-plumbing, as well as installation of individual electrical counters. Then they can charge each room whatever they use.
Bingo!

I CANNOT believe that they couldn’t get someone from the church in the business to replace the boilers at/below cost, maybe even free. I’m sure they have plenty of people in the business who are well off and would rather give that than tithe money. Wouldn’t it also make a good tax write-off? Charity to a religious organization…

Hilarious. Sow a boiler…reap a boiler…if that isn’t Biblical than I don’t know what is.
December 14th, 2007 at 12:07 pm
Hundred fold return, that’s really funny. Is there an audio feed on this blog. We need to play the “Give, and it shall come back to you” song.
December 15th, 2007 at 2:06 pm
You’d think that with what they charge students to go the their school that they could afford repairs…
If PF and the other executive staff tithed their ten percent for a even just a couple of months it would easily be covered. Sounds like a great plan to me…

Um, it’s Dave and Alynne Shinness, not Joel…sorry, not important. The dorms were always on the cold side, and if you weren’t a morning person you often got stuck with a frigid shower, so obviously the boiler wasn’t the problem. This is so depressing, because even though I hated my
prison sentencetime at CCS, I have some great memories from the year I attended PBC.December 19th, 2007 at 9:19 am

Woops–meant to go something like this:
It’s a little bit important — it is the difference between Alynne being married to her husband and Alynne being married to her son. pppppppttttthhhh
I love the Shinnesses — love, love love them. They are some of the funniest people I have ever met.
