Was Moses high?

Reader MH, sends in this newsclip of an Israeli professor who claims that Moses was actually high on drugs when he heard God give him the 10 Commandments.

"As far Moses on Mount Sinai is concerned, it was either a supernatural cosmic event, which I don't believe, or a legend, which I don't believe either, or finally, and this is very probable, an event that joined Moses and the people of Israel under the effect of narcotics," Shanon told Israeli public radio on Tuesday.

Of course it turns out the professor himself is a bit of a druggie.

Moses was probably also on drugs when he saw the "burning bush," suggested Shanon, who said he himself has dabbled with such substances.

Shocker, huh.

  1. If Moses was high, wouldn’t one of the commandments have been something a little more wacked such as “Thou whoest takest the last hit off the bong must drink the bong water” – not the 10 commandments that all civilized society can rest their foudation on?

I have been high many a time (before being a Christian of course…well and once before I knew it was not good) and I might have been able to pontificate on the benefits of eating twinkies rathar than ding dongs, or laugh at things that just aren’t funny…but I was incapable of coming up with anything as serious as the 10 Commandments.

What does this professor propose? The burning bush was a pot plant???

You just can’t make this stuff up…this guy’s theory is a good example of what drugs can do to someone.

  2. Moses wasn’t just high, Moses was super high. Who else but a super high guy would get lost for 40 years?

  3. If it were legal, I’d smoke it on occasion – I don’t view it any different than drinking beer, wine or a shot of whiskey. I have several rocker friends who used the ‘herb’ liberally in the past. That’s pretty typical among secular musicians / rock scene. Though at 50, they’re more inclined to savor a good cup of coffee now. Modest use of weed for recreational purposes is OK with me. I also think it should be available medicinally when prescribed without the feds interfering. Whether for glaucoma, hypertension or pain management …

    Great … now I’ve got the munchies … ;)

LOL It’s no wonder they were looking for the land of milk and honey. They were searching for the ultimate munchies!

Seriously, though, people who say stuff like this are only looking for attention. You’d have to be pretty stupid to believe that Moses just made it all up after being really high. You might as well believe that we’re all just a bunch of brain-washed space aliens whose souls are trapped in human bodies.

    :-)
