Evangelical Manifesto
Posted on May 5th, 2008 by catalyst into the Politics categorySome conservative Christians have drafted an Evangelical Manifesto which shares concerns about the social agenda Evangelical leaders are pushing. The documents founders are asking Christian leaders from around the country to sign the Manifesto:
The declaration, scheduled to be released Wednesday in Washington, encourages Christians to be politically engaged and uphold teachings such as traditional marriage. But the drafters say evangelicals have often expressed "truth without love," helping create a backlash against religion during a "generation of culture warring."
"All too often we have attacked the evils and injustices of others," the statement says, "while we have condoned our own sins." It argues, "we must reform our own behavior."
However, not all Evangelical Leaders are rallying behind this document:
James Dobson, the influential founder of Focus on the Family, a Christian group in Colorado Springs, Colorado, did not sign the document, said Gary Schneeberger, a Dobson spokesman. Schneeberger would not say whether Dobson had read the manifesto or had been asked to sign on.
Phil Burress, an Ohio activist who networks with national evangelical leaders, said that if high-profile evangelical leaders such as Dobson and Land don't support the document, "it's like throwing a pebble in the ocean" and will carry no weight.
While I tend to agree with Phil Burress that this isn't going to change much, it is another sign of discontent from Evanglicals toward their leaders, which you know, I always think is a good thing.

It should say the truth without Jesus Christ.
The real Jesus Christ crucified will mean complete loss of control over people. This spells D-A-N-G-E-R for men who can’t figure out what they love more.
Jesus or control.
If people can lead you to believe that the way to atone for your sins is to come up to altar call every sunday and get prayed for, they can probably get you to believe just about anything.
In my view, this leads people to believe that they aren’t going to experience a dramatic, sin-free change in their life without the help of God’s elect elite men.
WHEN IN REALITY it’s Jesus who is constantly interceding for us at the right hand of God. We might not feel that instant RUSH of change like we have become so accustomed to here in america (coffee, drugs, alcohol, sex, 1080p video games, etc) but it is there for sure.
Our Lord is one of patience and perfect timing. He isn’t concerned with NOW NOW NOW like we are. He is not concerned with what we “think” is best for us.
He is concerned with what he knows is best for us.
Psalm 139:1-18 — He knows us better than we know ourselves.
also in the new….
Romans 8:26
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
The danger of pointing people to the INCREDIBLE, REAL truth of Jesus Christ is that you lose your man-made grip on their lives.
The liberty, freedom, and PEACE that comes from Jesus is something many people want to kept locked up for the sole sake of control.
Sell everything you have and give it to the poor OR keep your kingdom.
I can only speak for myself when I say that the Jesus I have found is worth every red cent I will ever make here on this earth. He can have all of my money. The greedy and highly questionable church, however, gets nothing — ever.
Mark 10:17-31 — the rich young ruler.
I love when I see a two page long “study” on how people try to justify this with their own lavish lives. I kind of want to print those studies on toilet paper

When saying church I am referring to the organization — not the body of Christ. I should have said organization.

This is a secular trance song by kosheen but it really reminds me of how Jesus has been towards me in my life.
Even though I have made my own bed of destruction thousands of times in life, He is there saying — screw it, i’m running out of my way to catch you.
———————————————————–
You create misery, have your cake and eat it
Take your place in history, and pray we don’t repeat it
Call it fate, call it back, call it off, don’t call me later
Lay your head in your bed, it’s just how you made it
Out off my way I’m running, I’m gonna catch you if I can
Out off my way start running, I’m gonna catch you

True love chases after whatever it desires. If you truly love your spouse, you will be spending most of your free time with them. If you truly love your job, you will be spending most of your time there. If you truly love the Lord, you know where to find him.
Jesus truly loves his people. He is spending his time chasing them.
…….and if we chased after him too? Well, that is the secret to a successful relationship right there.
You chase after me, and I chase after you.
2 Timothy 2:13 — “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.”
even if we don’t chase after him HE STILL COMES FOR US RELENTLESSLY OUT OF LOVE.
This is more than enough love to earn my entire devotion and commitment for all eternity. I mean who does something like that? I have known not even one but Jesus.
