Update on Senator Grassley Investigation
Posted on July 18th, 2008 by catalyst into the Politics, Prosperity Doctrine categorySenator Grassley has filed a press release updating the public on the progress of his investigation into the ministries suspected of violating tax laws.
Joyce Meyer and Benny Hinn, seem do be doing pretty well:
"Joyce Meyer and Benny Hinn have engaged in open and honest dialogue with committee staff. They have not only provided responses to every question but, in the spirit of true cooperation, also have provided information over and above what was requested. "Both Joyce Meyer and Benny Hinn have indicated that they are also instituting reforms without waiting for the committee to complete its review."
Kudos to both Meyer and Hinn. This seems like a more Christ-like approach to handling this investigation. Turning the other cheek and all that.

The formatting for the blog is off, so I couldn’t ad this, but Copeland Ministries and the Dollar Ministries aren’t complying with the good Senator from Iowa.
And as usual, I’m not impressed. Everyone has to obey tax laws, Whether you’re a religious institution or not, you’re still not above the law.

How I wish churches would see it this way. Thumbing your nose at everyone does not breed trust and respect, it only makes you look like you have something to hide.
Senator, surely you’re not suggesting we can’t trust lawyers???

I was sent a link to this website sponsored by Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Myers, Paula White, Benny Hinn etc.
www.believersstandunited.com
It is a defense of the Sen. Grassley investigation and a proclamation of faith for the historical church roots of the Word of Faith / Prosperity Gospel. They say that there are “some” who abuse the message to ripe off the poor but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Yet they offer no scriptural reference or biblical based teaching from Jesus saying why its right.
These people kill me!

And here is the link to their blog. Notice the “Jim Jones” and “David Coresh” type responese. Forget CBC, these people are completely brainwashed. We have a big mountain to climb.

Hey Reformer, that’s a good find. Here’s one of the comments that just about killed me.

Agreed. Nice catch!
The site was specifically set up by Kenneth Copeland Ministries.
And I’m betting that it was set up by KCM’s lobbying group in DC.
And again, Kenneth. No one’s telling you what to preach. You just have to pay your taxes, like everybody else.

Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.
Pay your taxes, man.

True dat Cat. I don’t agree with you most of the time. But money and God’s blessing have little to do with each other. How about, Dollar sell your Rolls Royce and give 40k to AIDS funds and buy a Honda Civic like me. Seriously.

I was flipping channels and saw Benny Hinn on tv talking about the investigation. He said that his lawyers told him not to cooperate. The Senate had no constitutional right to be asking for the information. The IRS could but not the senate. Hinn had a 3 year IRS investigation and thought that they needed to cooperate. He said on the clip that the others should cooperate too. He more or less said that it makes it look like you have something to hide.

Is very clear that politician and religion sometime do not get alone but is hard for ordinary people that do not have knowledge the intrinsic of the holding power that each one have within this society for me this is comedy and nobody going to understand what really behind that investigation coming from the Republican party specially on election time, remenber that President Bush have a lot support during the presidency and look like some religious group shift from Republican to Democratic that what look like to support Obama.
