5 Reasons
Posted on July 31st, 2008 by Reformed Pope into the Reasons why I love life categoryBlog reader Mike, recently left this gem of a comment that I thought deserved further discussion:
Five reasons this blog is important.
1. Satire - Is a great way to get to the core (preachers use it all the time) it works
2. Debate - Is always a healthy. It forces all side to think
3. Reform - The difference between Christianity and other faiths is that Christianity is a self correcting religion. We respect authority but we respect truth even more.
4. What’s good for the goose- City church and any church for that matter routinely correct peoples beliefs and the beliefs of other churches.
5. Free speech - Is the truest and simplest way to bring balance to the powers that be. If city church is a power that BEEES it needs to be talked about.Blog creator I salute you - most ministries are birthed out of something they want to change and are courageous enough to speak up about. Including City Church. Pastors don’t have a God given right to speak their mind more than commoners. I say cheers to you (bad ass of the blogging world)
I'd also like to add reason number 6: It gives you something to do when you are slow at work.
Thank you Mike for your thoughtful comment. We greatly appreciate it.

Don’t forget:
#7: Enjoy hanging Cease & Desist orders on my office wall.

Damn it Henry…you just brightened my day. If i were to list a top 5 days in the life of Johnpaul, one of them would be “the day I received a Cease & Desist letter from CBC’s lawyers”.
Can’t nobody hold me down.

A cease and desist letter!?! Serious? On what grounds?

Yeah Fred, now you are starting to see the dark side. As I said before, I know there is a lot of posts and a tone of information to weed through. But use the search feature and research some of the crap that CBC has swung our way. You will be shocked!

Five reasons this blog is not important.
1. In catalyst’s words, the point is to hurt people
2. This blog says it’s a parody. It’s not. It is an attack blog.
3. Dealing with offense in the Bible means going in person to the party… not posting your offenses to the entire world on the blog.
4. The so called leaders of this blog attack pastors by name, yet they don’t use their real names.
5. I have never seen CBC correct people on a public blog forum. There is no comparison.
If you are serious about reform, sending anonymous shots from the safety of your computer is more cowardly than brave. Do something in person or don’t do it at all.

JM, anyone who is allowed to actually post on this blog have made our REAL names known, and we HAVE personally approached the executives of CBC to initiate discussion.
It’s pretty hard to have a discussion with someone who refuses to acknowledge you exist. All attempts at discussion with CBC have been met with either silence or “no thanks” by way of their attorney.
Thus, this blog exists because open dialogue with CBC leadership is not something CBC leadership wants to pursue.
Actually, I believe either Reformed Pope or Catalyst was able to meet with someone a while ago .. I remember reading the blog post about it. Not sure where it is. Ah.. here’s the link:

You tell us when Frank is ready to meet, ok? We’ll bring the beer.

Thank you Henri, that was wonderful. And a quick side note, Howard Rachinski still remains the only CBC’er (with any power) who took the time to meet with me and listen to my issues. We did not see eye to eye but Howard was very respectful and treated me very well. I have a lot of respect for that man.
JM, As far as your 5 points go (thanks for getting in the spirit of the blog, btw, you 5 counter points are fun if nothing else) allow me to address point #3:
So if I were to tell you that I have personally made numerous attemps via email and postal mail to reach Frank and a few of the other elders in an attempt to meet with them and that I have also had a long standing open invation written on this blog to meet with anybody at any time would you say that I was attempting to deal with the issues in Person, as you have suggested the Biblical way to do things?
Furthermore, if those attempts were either ignored or denied would you say that CBC is handling things in a Biblical way?
And when I was finally able to reach one of the pastors he simple told me I left a “trail of carnage” but would not tell me what that meant (see my comments under I regret my presence) would that make me Biblical or CBC?
You tell me JM…you tell me.
Again, CBC does not wish to open a dialogue with us. That would give our comments validity…of course that would also be Biblical, but as we have pointed out here, CBC is more concerned with their agenda than God’s word…Hence the blog.

And now to address point #4:
If you click the link on my name, Reformed Pope, it takes you to my family website…there is all kinds of information about me, my family, and even my friends. Pictures are included…as well as contact information. Just because in the blogger world I go by Reformed Pope does not mean that my identity is hidden.
JM, you need to realize that your comments have left behind a trail of carnage and have caused much damage in the church, the blog world, and in friends and family’s life. Whether you know it or not you are just a pawn used by the devil.

So does this mean you’ll stop sending anonymous blog shots at us? Cause your posts are getting really annoying.
I’m not trying to point out any planks in your eye or anthing, but you realize you’re preaching a double standard right?

Thanks for the tip Reformed Pope about the link.
Although after seeing the photos I am even more perplexed that you would lead a blog that makes fun Of Judah’s hair.
Here is good parody… put a photo of yourself up and let’s see what readers think of it!
