(In light of the sparkling repartee engendered by yesterday's question, allow me to submit another….)
According to CNN, President Obama signed a memorandum on Friday that ends a prohibition on funding federal family-planning funds and contraceptives to international aid groups that provide abortions, abortion referrals or abortion counseling. See article here.
On the one hand, Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Obama's move "welcome news to the poorest women and families in the world."
And on the other, Rep. Tom Price, R-Georgia, said, "This is a stunning reversal of course from the president's campaign statements that he hoped to reduce the number of abortions."
Do you agree with the President?

Obama is going to be your president for the next 8 years. I suggest you try and relax a little.
You have to wait 6 months before you can try to impeach him anyway, Joe.
Mr. Pope;
This is newsworthy and important, is it not?
In quoting reactions from both sides of the political aisle, I'm being eminently fair, am I not?
Perhaps you view this subject as unfit for discussion?
So you know, I firmly believe it is within God's Will that we have this President in office….
And FYI, I am totally relaxed….
-joe
Probably so, especially if he pulls a miraculous solution for the current economic crisis out of his vaunted bag of tricks (which I hope he can, BTW).
And yet, even notwithstanding that, if…..
1) Obama sticks to the threatened withdrawal of U.S. forces from both Iraq and Afghanistan within the promised 16-month parameter,
and if…..
2) in light of his closing of Gitmo, Obama continues to take what is perceived to be a more dovish posture in his (dis?) inclination towards preventing and/or fighting Islamic terrorism,
and if…..
3) the U.S. (to the delight of a certain Eastern Washington sophist
) should suffer another terrorist assault similar to the Twin Towers attacks — which for all his warts, Bush didn't have another under his watch since 9/11 — and which scenario, according to some sources, is not only likely, but inevitable,
……then look for Obama to be ousted — handily — by a hawk at the 2012 DNC Convention, and suffer the same can't-we-all-just-get-along? presidential legacy as a certain Georgian peanut farmer.
All of which, though hypothetical, is not beyond the bounds of probability.

The bloke continues to prove himself.
Please remember that Carter was winning the ’80 election until the last few weeks. A number of things went wrong for Carter and right for Reagan in October of 1980. All of that to say that even a bad situation does not mean that Obama will be bumped by the Dems or even lose the presidency. My money would have been on Bush losing in 2004, but he did not. Obama’s victory margin was not as great in pure numbers as I would have expected either.
He was a black man with the name Barrack Hussein Obama. The fact that he was elected at all is a miracle.
And I would just like to remind Reformed Pope, that Joebib’s blog posts are God’s punishment on us for not blogging enough. Heh.
Maybe it’s time to dredge U-Tube for some gen church fodder – or (and this is worse than God’s punishment) – listen to a Frank or Judah sermon and dissect it.
Why, lookit what I just found – I’m gonna order me one.
‘Scrupe
THIS is hysterical. Obviously the product of someone who listened to Frank lisp for so long he picked up a little lisp of his own.
Well done, scrupe. That is fantastic.
“I’m excited about it.” Zzzzzzzzzz ….

I want to “gain more prestige.”
Trust me Fred, I do remember.
Yeah, like almost 20% for both inflation and interest rates, as I recall, under his watch. Think that some of that just might have had something to do with his ouster?
Remember the "misery index?"
Not to mention Jimmy's perceived wimpiness in regard to the Iran Hostage situation, as 'Scrupe mentioned. And then in contrast to that, Reagan's plan to no longer pussyfoot with the kidnappers by appointing a 4-star General, the former Supreme Commander of NATO, for his Secretary of State fairly freaked them into releasing the hostages posthaste, in what was it, something like a half an hour?
And in that regard, it's not just a question of whether or not you agree with the ethics of using violence in world geo-political affairs, as the Western Power's impotence in confronting Herr Hitler at Munich in 1938 forever proved. There is simply no other way.
When you're dealing with an ingrained mindset which teaches that qualities such as a willingness to talk, compromise and friendliness are signs of weakness to be pounced upon, and with brainwashed Muslim teenagers who live for no higher buzz than the opportunity to strap a bomb to their bellies in order to blow to smithereens as many innocents as possible — all so they will earn mega-brownie-points and scores of virgins-fair from Muhammad up there in idyllic, Islam-heaven — you are unfortunately left with very few warm, fuzzy options.
It's like Teddy Roosevelt said, you gotta "walk softly and carry a big stick." And in his rush to undue all that Bush has done as rapidly as he can because of sentimental public opinion to the contrary, I hope President Obama keeps that in mind.

OMG CAT! AMEN!!!!!
I often wonder what it is that Yahweh allows which will finally bring America to its knees. Economic collapse, STD’s run amuck, terrorism, etc. I am hopeful because I serve a really big and benevolent Creator. But hope is the one thing which the lack of, by whatever means, will bring humankind to its knees; which is exactly where our Creator wants His creation.
Because only from a kneeling perspective can we truly see the Creator’s true benevolence, and therefore find the Divine and loving purpose of all creation.
Whatever happens to our nation and world as a result of any president’s agenda, I plan to try and understand from a kneeling perspective.

Joe-
Must I remind you, if women use conterceptives they don’t get pregnant and don’t have abortions. The effor to PREVENT ABORTION by Bush, prevented birth control all together and more unwanted pregnacies with more women seeking abortion.
Of course, they could have tried the rythm method for birth control. But you already know what they call couples that use rythm method …… parents.
Hi checking in;
According to the Guttmacher Institute (founded by former Planned Parenthood President Alan Guttmacher) — and in spite of increasing population — the total number of U.S abortions has decreased every year since its high mark of 1.6 million in 1990, including every year under Bush, and was down to almost 1.2 million per year as of 2007.
Still though, you make a good point about the rhythm method.
