Exactly what is “his type of leadership”? I just returned from France and all the news in Europe is how bad President Obama is doing with the dollar. The collapse of the dollar and rise of Russia, China in absents of US leadership. Europe doesn’t favor our current administration at all. Not in England, France or Germany.
Please let me know, if our allies do not “favor his type of leadership” then who is “the world at large”?
There must have been SOMETHING favorable toward Obama as a leader or the Noble Peace Prize committee wouldn’t be trying to make some kind of statement by choosing him for the award.

I’m just guessing from what I’ve been spoonfed on the news over here in America (I don’t get cable so don’t watch Fox), that there’s more favor towards this president than the last one. But you too have apparently been spoonfed by what you say is “all the news in Europe”.
Not being easily led by the usual hyped up hysteria, again, I sit here in the Middle of the Left and Right, pondering and patiently waiting to see just what kind of leadership our new president will produce–it’s been less than a year since he began his term.
I’m not worshipping him even though the Left practically demands it, nor am I in fear he’s the antichrist even though the Right practically insinuates it.

I actually think they gave him the award to persuade him from escalating the war in Afghanistan.
Although I never traveled to Europe during President Bush’s years, I assume you are correct.
Doesn’t matter, Bush never tried to claim to bring the world to favor. Obama did.

Great point DeTox, great point! Christians should not participate in politics according to some political labels or mainstream beliefs shoved down our throats, but rather be as independent as possible. Remember Jesus was too liberal for the conservatives and to conservative for the liberals. He was a radical to both sides. A man in the middle of it all with His eyes focused squarely on doing the will of His Father. Now I’m with that.
You know reformer, you remind me of my buddy ‘Scrupe {that is a compliment, by the way } Howso? Well, sometimes you say good things I really agree with. But then, you say stuff which makes me scratch my head.
E.g., I just noticed something you said a few days ago:
Christians should not participate in politics according to some political labels or mainstream beliefs shoved down our throats
I agree in general with the first part of what you say here. Because we as believers shouldn’t participate in politics merely according to some political “label,” or party, etc. Rather, it should be for what they stand for, or against.
But then you say: “mainstream beliefs shoved down our throats”……which makes me wonder.
Which beliefs did you have in mind? Hopefully not biblical ones, because shouldn’t we as believers align ourselves with what/whomever seeks to stand for that which most closely mirrors what the Bible teaches? I mean, wouldn’t you agree with that statement?
(Which is very simply done by picking up the paper and seeing what 90% of each political party is for, or against)
And so, if (by chance) in saying “beliefs shoved down our throats” you’re making a reference to:
– standing against legalized killing of unborn children,
– taking aborted fetal tissue and conducting stem cell research with it,
– standing against militant sodomites who seek to force acceptance and legalization of their lifestyle upon schools, the church, and society as a whole
….then I wholeheartedly disagree with you. If not, I’m wondering what “beliefs” you’re referring to.
When you add this 2nd part…..
but rather be as independent as possible
….I disagree, because by using this term in such close proximity with, and in context with conservative and liberal, you imply a political leaning. Which contradicts what you just said a minute ago. Because last time I checked, the independents didn’t have a corner on standing for biblical Truth.
Wouldn’t it simply be better for you (as a believer) to say that we (as believers) should do everything according to what Christ would do? To what the Word teaches?
You go on:
Remember Jesus was too liberal for the conservatives and to conservative for the liberals. He was a radical to both sides. A man in the middle of it all with His eyes focused squarely on doing the will of His Father. Now I’m with that.
Again, I disagree with this. Why? Because by saying “conservative” and “liberal,” you’re inferring a modern day political label clashes with the way Jesus stood for Truth 2,000 years ago.
Christ wasn’t more “liberal” than “the conservatives,” nor more “conservative” than “the liberals.”
Bad grammar aside, what Christ actually was….was that He was more “biblical” than those who: 1) held to unbiblical interpretations of the Scriptures (like the Scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees, etc.), and 2) those who didn’t follow the Scriptures at all (Romans, Herodians, Zealots, secular/atheistic Jews, etc.).
To the contrary — because today…..
– a “conservative” in the vast majority of cases refers to someone who stands against things like abortion, granting sodomites legalization, etc.
– and “liberal” in the vast majority refers to those who accept and vote for those things
……I believe Christ would find much more in common with the vast majority of “conservatives” than He would with the vast majority of “liberals.”
I was surprised by this - not to ’slam the man’, but what he has done to deserve it? Sure, a lot of people are enamored by his leadership, but I haven’t seen any tangible results of such leadership. Has anyone here?
Personally, I don’t think the prize was awarded to him on the basis of what he has done, but as a manipulative move to influence future actions. It seems they fancy themselves as directors on the world stage. Just MHO.

No!

HE even says he didn’t deserve it!
But it certainly shows how the world at large favors his type of leadership.
