  1. I don’t think Jesus is interested in becoming the emperor of the modern day Roman empire (the USA) any more than He was when He stood before Pilate.

  2. Well, I don’t think that most Christians actually consider what Jesus would want before they start throwing his “will” around.

  3. Oh the Republican party has hijacked Christians to ignorant levels. If anything Jesus was a socialist…the rich giving to the poor. The first becoming last and last becoming first.

  4. the Republican party has hijacked Christians

To the detriment of Christians if you ask me. DeTox asks the right question, “If Jesus is a Republican, where does this leave Democrats or Independents?”

I think the Church greatly reduces its reach, when it identifies so closely with a political party. And that includes both Democrats and Republicans. (I’m looking at you Reverend Al Sharpton) If your church only supports a certain party then you are alienating about half the country. It’s not smart from an Evangelical standpoint or from a business standpoint.

If City Bible Church really wants to grow, they should drop the hyper Republican support, and focus on a more moderate approach to politics. Especially considering that they’re based in Portland, Oregon, arguably the most liberal city in America. But they won’t. Tim Nashif (Oregon Family Council) gives too much money to City Bible, and they won’t risk offending him.
