I wonder if it would be helpful to have a City Business Church Facebook page?
I’ve resisted doing it for a variety of reasons. Mostly, because a lot of my Facebook friends still attend City Bible, and I don’t really want to throw my views in their face. (which you kind of end up doing on Facebook) But I do think that Facebook is a great medium for discussion. And most blogs that allow comments have a Facebook page as another way to reach their audience. I don’t know…
Hmmmm, I like it. I am sure you would ruffle more feathers, but really at this point…who cares. It would probably be hard to get people to comment though. I think the annonimity this blog offers is why so many people are more willing to speak freely….even though as of late, there have been a number of “crazies” posting. Maybe test the waters a bit, see what the response is??
Aww, I am half way out of the blogging closet–you know half my identity! Which I admit probably doesn’t help anybody much as when I was at PBC there were so many Stephen’s there was a great need for some to be martyred off. I debate why I need to be anonymous, I am already the black sheep in my own circles. Can the truth set me free if I am not free to reveal my identity? Blogging is like going to confessional in a Catholic Church–we can reveal our sins–yet nobody knows our true identity. And, the fact that I blog in secret, I think, discredits my “testimony” and makes it easier to those leading in deception to not change their ways. Who is afraid of the faceless masses? No one. But to know who was wronged–ah, that could keep a teacher or pastor up late at night. Bring on Facebook, maybe a good many bloggers will come out of the closet and into the light and reveal who they really are and find complete self expression.

…Or, you will be spammed with a trillion drive-by comments on how bitter we all are and need to get over it and unity commands the blessing and all that.
It’d be interesting to tally the number of ‘you are all so bitter’ comments on here since you started the blog in 2004, then see how fast your FB page can reach that number!
If you think FB might be too much work, you could start with a Twitter account which may be easier to manage at first.
Detox is on Twitter just for fun. Check it! It’s been a little slow so far since it doesn’t seem to be a forum for bitterness and rebellion yet (lol) – Btw, if any of you rebels are on twitter feel free to follow me!
But seriously, when I first signed Detox up on Twitter I started by quoting stuff I have said on my blog, but now I include some of the comments I like from bloggers who drop by. It gives me a place to highlight them and remember them without having to sift thru….
Here’s the deal. No one actually likes to admit they read this blog. Even though we get a few hundred people a day, only about 1 1/2 people actually admit they visit this site. I think anonymity is a big reason why this site is successful. And I’m not sure it would work on Facebook.
However, if you want to be my friend on Facebook, you can access my page at http://www.facebook.com/justin.morton3 and I’ll friend you. This way you can stay updated on my sports obsessions, my incredibly fat face and my drinking problem.
Ha! I like it.

Detox, I would never go against the counsel of the elders at the gate…
Those who wish to remain anonymous on FB can be like this.

But Stephen, I thought it was agreed that we too are elders at the gate?!
