Hey no one has mentioned, unless I've missed it, 2 gems that stood out to me:

1. on Chelsea doing the FINANCES: He says "How can I be in the dark when you KEEP me in the dark?" How's that for a big reveal? Nothing like telling the whole world who holds the purse strings.

2. on SEX: Judah says "Jesus is bringing sexy back" (gag! what a statement) when plugging his upcoming 7-week series on sex in February. As if Mark Driscoll and Ed Young aren't doing enough to invade their congregants' bedrooms, now Judah wants to get in on the action? Why do these pastors think people want them invading their sex lives?

I heard/say that too! When he's saying 'yer an AWEsome preacher - yer whatever you WANna be' - it's like he's inferring 'alrighty then - yer a loo loo but we'll all let you THINK you can preach' - his vocal inflection is obvious there. Wonder if he got in trouble for that one later?!

You know what's funny - Wendell and Gini used to haggle over the stage when they visited CCC sometimes. I remember him getting really annoyed with her butting in! She'd step in at times and take away the whole thing while he sat off to the side with body language that revealed oh so much.

Like father, like son. I think JP nails it when he says Judah loves Judah, the stage, and then Chelsea.

Think about it this way Anna - if you had a chance to hear personal questiions answered from your idol (if you had one) wouldn't you be all gaga to hear them 'share their heart' in a semi-personal setting?

To us it's vexing to listen past the 4 minutes, but to them the hour was over like 5 minutes. You could almost hear a collective sigh at the end.

I listened to 5 minutes the other day just to see what Cat was talking about - but today came back to give it a listen after I read the comment section! of course, I have 5 other windows open, working on a project - it's the only way!

Ya, we heard the same explanations to being over 40 at CCC, verbatim. The MFI Lead pastors are really good at saying all the right things that people need to hear but really suck at making people actually feel needed.

If people over 40 feel needed there, why did the question come up. Obviously someone is feeling pushed aside and overlooked.

sorry if this feels like a health class. Please dont be like those sheltered City Christian high schoolers who function like 11 yr olds or immature PBC folks who'd giggle whenever Glenda Malmin mentioned a name of a body part. gah, I remember those days when 20-somethings acted like 13 yr olds.

I think it's the idea that birth control may not help a person abstain from premarital sex. And secondly, birth control does two things: 1, prevent ovalation. 2, in case if a egg sneaks out and is fertilized by a sperm, the pills thicken the cervical mucus so that the fertilized cell won't implant. Some people consider that as a type of potential abortion and hesitant to use birth control pills. They may use condoms or other forms.

Amen to JP about unity. Biblical unity is when we all agree with the Holy Spirit, not when we agree with each other -- or as SPFD would say, agree with him.

And about that quote: "the main thing leaders should be 'called out for' is publically attacking the authenticity of another’s ministry."

... where did that come from? When I read the Scriptures, I see leaders being "called out" for two things: Leading people astray with bad teaching and mistreating those in their care.

My first thought is:
Fear is a pretty persuasive tool. Do any of you remember Ed Scheffters play "Eternity"? That played at CBC for quite sometime before he took his act on the road to NY. If I remember right pretty scary, IMO doctrinally unsound but when they would fly out of the floor as demons and take away a girl who made an immoral choice that was some pretty intense stuff!

The term "intellectually honest" is a broad brush, ain't it?

From Wikipedia:

<i>"Intellectual honesty is an applied method of problem solving in academia, characterized by an unbiased, honest attitude, which can be demonstrated in a number of different ways:

One's personal beliefs do not interfere with the pursuit of truth;

Relevant facts and information are not purposefully omitted even when such things may contradict one's hypothesis;

Facts are presented in an unbiased manner, and not twisted to give misleading impressions or to support one view over another;

References are acknowledged where possible, and plagiarism is avoided"</i>

<b>I dare say evangelical Christianity is replete with intellectual dishonesty, according to the definition above.</b>
